OH MY GOD!!!
That’s the best header I could find to decribe today’s Hawaii Five-0 Season 4 premier.
PREVIOUSLY ON H50… SEASON 3 FINALE: “ALOHA,MALAMA PONO”
Last season we were left on the dark, bitting our nails watching Kono leave the team and Hawaii with a targeted Adam. A guy that we all believed bad till we saw him kill his own brother to save Kono. I know a lot of fans disagree with me about it, cause they think it doesn’t prove anything, but in my case i want to believe it does.
Besides that we saw Steve to confront his mom Doris about her ties with Wo Fat and the biggest secret she’s keeping. He put her against the wall saying the remarkable words we will never forget: “A- I don’t buy, B-I don’t care”. Even when we didn’t have any answers but more questions instead, we were glad we got to see Steve finally make her realize he’s not being fooled anymore by her and her lies.
The best part and season finale shocker, we get to see a mad Steve knowing Doris visited Wo Fat and that now he set him up. We see for the very frst time a really scared Wo Fat depending on his archyenemy’s mercy, being totally up to Steve’s choice if to help him or not from “They”…
And we fade in blank…
NOW, ON THE SEASON 4 PREMIERE!! : ” ALOHA KEKAHI I KEKAHI” <“WE NEED ONE ANOTHER”>
Opening Scene: We fade in where we were left… Steve hides in while the baddies gets into the cell and plant a bomb on it. He leaves his NAVY SEAL side to get out and play, killing them with their own guns and stoping the bomb right on time before blown up. I know, i know, it was shocking but not totally a surprise as we were teased about it during the hiatus.
What I didn’t count on was on seeing Steve dragging the only baddie survivor on the floor till HQ. Where we found the next amazing part of the episode. We not only get an intense hostage situation but really smart guys with huge courage to dare to attack HQ. We get to see a different side of always calmed Chin Ho, who decided to play his moves at the best style of Die Hard franchise’s John McClaine, hidding, observing the situation and advancing. Can’t leave the fun part between action scenes aside, Danny choosing the “Best Moment Ever” to talk about his love life with Steve, while he’s trying to CPR the dying suspect in their custody. Awesome, well done. That’s till Steve and Danny are forced to turn in themselves with the suspect to avoid the hostages death. And just by one command “Chin, It’s over,come down” We see our beloved three men “surrender” but not actually.
In a turn we didn’t expected the bad guys surrended themselves in front of them, but not after shot a girl, killed the suspect, take something from the smart table and kill the smart table on the process. Of course everyone cheering up outside when they see all the baddies coming out with hands on the air and Steve, Danny and Chin Ho following them behind with their guns. We thought that as usual they would solve the case right away and that’s it, well…nop.
Instead of get the typical “Chin look for clues, Danny come with me”, we realize Steve receives a call from Cath’s cellphone but it’s actually a man who answers it. She’s being kidnapped and to release her they have to set the bad guys free. Did you think Steve will hesitate after what happened with Victor Hesse killing his dad??? No way!!! Without a doubt he drove the Camaro till the edge to go after them. “Danny, I lost my father dealing with people like this, Im not gonna lose Catherine too” Steve’s words to Danny facing his concern of not being doing the things on the right way and cuestioned if that would cost him not to see Grace again. Good thing they FREE the guys and get Catherine, bad thing the Camaro died on the way.
Next, probably was one very expected moment Lou Grover invading Steve’s personal space. I gotta say I LOVED that scene, I still do. I see a huge potential between both characters. Both Alpha males with very different point of view when it comes of how to do the job, definetely a must see. Which made me recall Alex O’loughlin‘s words when he said on a recent interview with ET, that they’re working on episode #8 already and that from 50 pages, Steve and Lou have argued for at least 47 of them. Does that sounds interesting? I bet it totally does!!!
Can’t forget how great the car chase was! Five-0’s pursuits are always amazing by themselves, but if to that you add the SWAT team, HPD and an angry Steve (Who wouldn’t after being blackmailed?) against fearless terrorists with a mission? Steve alone by himself after the guy who blackmailed him? Steve running into the stadium and jumping over an elevating helicopter, literally up on the air, super SEAL Steve fighting and taking down the two baddies on it and then taking the control back right on time before to crash.The best Stunt I have seen so far. Steve facing Wo Fat again, taking a blood sample and giving it to Max: “Run this right away!” -“Against what?” “Against my blood, I want to know if Wo Fat is my brother”…”Toast” is back! To help Chin discover what was taken from the smart table before it died AND We fade in blank again after knowing Kono and Adam’s location has been compromised,with Kono getting reay to fight against Yakuzas and realizing Doris is not with them…
We get the recipe for action scenes proper of a condecorated Big Screen Film. Do you remember movies like: Die Hard, Casino Royal and The Marine? Well put them all together and you’ll get the Hawaii Five-0 Season 4 Episode 1. Action-Drama-Criminal Procedure-Fun and more is what you got from the season premiere. Hoping We will have many more great episodes to come.
But this wouldn’t be a good recap-review if I don’t mention the impeccable acting of Alex O’loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, Michelle Borth, Dennis Chun, Ian Anthony Dale, Masi Oka and Chi McBride. Also that having all this action would not be possible without the talent and efforts of the amazing Stunt Team, directed by Mr.Jeff Cadiente and colaboration of the attentive crew that the show counts with. We own them to keep the excellence of the scenes and safety of our stars, making Mr.Peter Lenkov and company’s Show one of the best shows on TV right now.
As always I want to express my love for this show that has conquered my heart and captivated my attention from the beginning.
