“A Glimpse Of Life”

“One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching”- Unknown Source

Few days that’s what has passed and two losses occurred. We first got hyper shocked when we read (what at first was thought to be another hoax) a great talent and human being, actor Paul Walker tragically died on a car crash after attending a charity event. And recently Nelson Mandela turned off his light on the world. It put me to think How long will we last?

We don’t know. No one knows and honestly I don’t think anyone will like to know which day it would be or how it would be. No one ever wants to die we want to keep living as much as we can. Why? Well I take that as something that God put into our hearts as part of his original purpose for the humanity. Meanwhile, we just got the uncertainty and expectation of that moment.

What are you going to do with the time you have got? Life is what we decide to do with it…

Happiness? It doesn’t depend on money or material things, neither does on the job or how many friends you got. But on the quality of those friends, how much you appreciate the littlest moments you get with them, how often you tell them you love them. How you face the daily problems & difficulties. How much you enjoy the things we usually take for granted, like: talk, walk, eat, see, touch, hear…To the simplest but wonderful creations: butterflies, the sunlight, the movement of the leaves on the trees, the sound of the wind or just have a sip of water. What’s the secret to be really happy? I don’t know, but so far I’ve found that my happiness has relied on having faith on God and always try to appreciate every single second of life I’ve got. If you believe in God, I would tell you that might be integral part of the key. And even if you don’t you’ll agree that believe in something in life gives you a reason…

Once Eleanor Roosevelt said: “The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences.”

To be happy go far than that. In recent years we have experienced how lifestyle has turned into a race car tournament, where how fast you can go is what matters. Everyone works long hours even on weekends and some take extra hours, leaving them with no family quality time. No time for themselves much less to care about others. A “me first, then me and finally me” world, no I love you, no be safe, no take care, no goodbye kiss, no hugs and no bonding. Just a mere mechanical life… Is this how is supposed to be?

I don’t think it is. No matter how many hours you work or how many stress pills you take, your problems are not going away. Your debts are not going to magically disappear and definitely you won’t miraculously wake up with millions on your bank account. So, why waste your precious time over worrying on something that won’t change? Why waste the time you could spend with your loved ones killing yourself? You might be thinking, “She doesn’t know what she’s talking about! She doesn’t have debts!” My answer: Are you sure?

Yes! I do know what I’m talking about. Maybe “celebrities” which daily concerns are only what they’re gonna wear, how many times their name was mentioned that day or which chef they’re gonna have that day…They are the ones that doesn’t know what it is about. Do I blame them for being rich? NO. Why? Because they might have what I don’t, but I have what they don’t. I’m happy despite having to carry on with family debts, to worry about monthly payments and buying baby formula milk. I might not have millions, not even thousands on my bank but I have a loving family, I’ve got an amazing baby brother, I don’t have to worry if the press is going to think my hoddie with skirt looks awful or if someone believe my make-up free face is not a model’s one.

At the end of the day we all have to work, eat, dress and more. But also at the end of the day the only ones that would be there are family and friends. Maybe you haven’t realized yet, but there’s always someone that cares about you more than you think. Is at the end of the day that you see how vain is to be selfish with the “Me first thing”. One day you will look back and see all the valuable things you had in front of you and all your “personal reached goals” but also all that you lost…

I understand the personal need of feel valuable, to have a career, a stable job and money to support yourself but Is it really worth it to put that first over dedicate time to family and friends? Is it worth the efforts and sacrifice of all those office hours and sleepless nights studying for a high position in front others eyes? Aren’t they looking for the same thing? Do they care about what you did? I don’t think so, because at the end they’re all after the same: Power, Recognition, Money, Prestige, maybe even Fame?

I’m not saying to work is bad or to study is wrong. Neither that you can’t or shouldn’t do so. What I mean is how much of your life are you letting go away because of that? When was the last time you called a dear friend you haven’t see? When was the last time you hugged your family and told them you love them? When was the last time that you appreciated being able to walk or see, touch or hear, to enjoy a bird singing or admire a butterfly’s color? When was the last time you were really happy?

I don’t think I have the answer to that, only you. Am I being too dramatic? Am I? Have you considered the fact that you could die anytime and anywhere? Or that you could unexpectedly lose a loved one? Or that you could lose your job or money by simple circumstances change? What’s going to be left?

There is NO REWIND-BUTTON on life, neither is an UNDO ICON on, there’s just past, present and future. And what you do with them. The question is: Are you going to regret the things you didn’t do or could have done? OR Are you going to be glad and satisfied that you took advantage of every second?

Make every second of every minute of every hour of every day count. Appreciate what you have and don’t sit down to desire what you don’t. Don’t wish the impossible and expect life be rose color; life is difficult but beautiful yet not perfect. Don’t run the career of life by yourself because what’s the price of reach the end alone? Take at least a moment every day to enjoy from the simplest things like take a sip of your coffee till the most complicated but wonderful things on life like love everyone the way they are…

The most important things are free: Smile, Hugs, Hope, Dreams (Which by the way you can have as much as you want) Happiness and L-O-V-EAre you going to make it worth? Because at the end this is just a glimpse of life…
